How We Did It

Stage 1

Prepare for one to three weeks. Educate yourself on the entire program, plan how you will follow the program when you need to travel or eat out, prepare meal plans, and purchase all the items you need.  This is the most important stage and without it you are sure to fail!

Stage 2

Begin hCG injections and eat!  Days 1 and 2 are “loading days.” You will start your hCG injections first thing in the morning. Eat lots of high-quality fatty foods. The goal is to consume 3000 to 3500 calories both days.

Stage 3

VLCD (Very Low Calorie Days). Continue with hCG injections every morning and eat only 500 calories per day. Choose from a limited list of foods. Do this for 21-40 days. For two days after your last injection, continue with just 500 calories.

Stage 4

Transition. 7 days – switch to strict keto and gradually increase your calories. Restrict your intake of carbohydrates and protein and get plenty of high-quality fat.

Stage 5

Stabilize. 14 days – continue with the ketogenic diet at your allotted calorie level.

Stage 6

Maintain. If you gain more than two pounds, eat nothing until dinner for one day. Have a large steak only for dinner.
