I was not obese, but I definitely weighed too much. At 5’6” and 167 pounds, my BMI was 27. Not horrible, but overweight for sure. My husband is 5’11” and weighed 215 pounds, giving him a BMI of 30, officially considered obese.
Our problem was the same that every overweight person has—we ate too much food. Some of it was bad food, some of it was good food.
We had both dieted in the past, and several times we both lost a good amount of weight. But once we reached our goal weights, we went back to eating the same way that caused our weight gain and then just put the weight back on.
We both lost the most weight with the hCG diet. We did not follow the stabilization protocol correctly though, so the weight came back. I was also able to lose some weight on a ketogenic diet, but not as much as I wanted to lose. I LOVE how I feel doing keto though.
The big breakthrough came when we combined the two diets in a very specific way, and that is what I am going to share with you.

Why I Like the hCG Diet
The hCG diet is fast and effective, period. You do not feel hungry. It is common to lose one-half to one pound every day while using hCG, and the satisfaction from losing weight so quickly is very motivating. Also, the weight lost while on hCG is primarily fat, not muscle, which is exactly what you want!
HCG is a great tool to quickly lose weight, but it is up to you to make the long-term changes needed to keep the weight off. While you are on the hCG protocol, you will detoxify from sugar (a poison!), bad oils (all poisons), processed foods (poisons), and fast-food (also poison.) So don’t mess it up and go back to eating poison once you have it out of your system. You will not crave it until you start eating it again.
Poison #1 – Sugar
Sugar in all kinds of forms is added to most processed foods. Glucose, fructose, and sucrose are names of sugars. Barley malt, cane juice, corn sweetener, dextran, malt powder, ethyl maltol, fruit juice concentrate, maltodextrin, maltose, corn syrup, malt syrup, oat syrup, rice syrup are all terms for sugar. Processed foods like pasta sauce, crackers, breakfast cereals, ketchup, low-fat yogurt, bread, canned soups, nut butters, even frozen dinners can contain sugar.
Poison #2 – Bad fats
Bad fats are bad because they cause inflammation in your body and increase your risk of heart disease. Bad fats include any fats or oils that are highly processed. Hydrogenated oils like margarine and Crisco, and the oil in microwave popcorn packets, are absolutely the worst. Corn oil is bad because it is almost always from genetically-modified corn; canola and rapeseed oils are highly processed to remove the odor; and any oils that have been heated at high temperatures for long periods of time are bad.
Poison #3 – Processed foods
Processed foods are bad for several reasons. First, they are made with less than great ingredients. GMO fruits, vegetables, and grains that have been doused with glyphosate and pesticides are not good for you. Neither are meats from animals that have been fed those
GMO grains. Added sugars, bad fats, and all kinds of artificial flavorings are not helping to improve anyone’s health.
Poison #4 – Fast foods
Fast foods are cheap and easy. The reason this food is cheap is because producers use the cheapest ingredients without any regard for the nutritional value. Burgers are made from the cheapest beef and beef products – the animals that no one else wants. These animals are fed the cheapest feeds, including GMO grains doused in glyphosate and by-products of other animals.
Fast-food fries are fried in the nastiest oils around, oils that are reused over and over. These oils are poor quality to start with, then are heated way past their smoke-point, hydrogenated, rancid, and just plain bad for you. Fast food chicken nuggets are often chicken by-products stuck together with meat glue to resemble actual chicken pieces.
Benefits of the hCG Diet
Improve your metabolism
Most weight loss diets require you to cut back on calories, which increases hunger. Your body thinks it is starving, so it slows down your metabolism with the unintended consequence of storing, rather than burning, extra calories. HCG achieves the opposite by instructing your body to use fat reserves as a supply of energy, speeding up your metabolism.
Energy Increase
Most people with extra weight suffer from a lack of energy. Dieting can compound feelings of exhaustion, hunger, irritability, and overall fatigue. While using hCG, your body releases adipose fat, turning it into valuable energy. Most dieters report a significant increase in energy levels within days.
Healthy Weight Reduction
HCG burns excess fat from all over your body. This means you will shed fat from your waist, arms, neck, butt, and thighs, avoiding an unbalanced reduction. It also targets those fat stores which can be tough to lose with normal dieting.
Lower Cholesterol
HCG, coupled with a low-calorie intake, reduces blood cholesterol levels. Maintaining healthy eating habits after you complete the hCG diet will decrease your odds of getting heart-related diseases.
Preserved Muscle Integrity
Many diets that cause you to lose weight fast cause the loss of both fat and muscle. The problem is that once you stop dieting, muscle is much harder to gain back than fat, and you can put back on more pounds than you lost. HCG preserves muscle mass while releasing stored fats, which is important for a healthy bone and muscle building.
No Hunger
Most diets fail because the reduction in calories causes intense hunger. Although the hCG diet requires a strict intake of only 500 calories per day, the hCG injections cause your body to pull calories from stored fat, so you do not experience severe hunger sensations. Instead, you can burn fat easily while only eating 500 calories a day. You will be able to develop healthy eating habits because you won’t be experiencing hunger, which can often prompt people to make poor food decisions.
Look and Feel Great
You will see amazing results if you see the hCG diet through to its end. You will find that you are losing weight faster than you ever thought possible. You will look great and feel great. Once you are on the path to health and wellness, you can continue with a healthy diet and a routine exercise program to maintain your weight loss.
Why I Like the Ketogenic Diet
A ketogenic diet gives me a ton of energy and brain clarity. I am an accountant and really appreciate the improved brain function. As a post-menopausal woman, I definitely appreciate the energy. The diet is easy to follow both at home and in restaurants.
What Is It?
“Ketogenic” is a term for a high-fat. The idea is for you to get most of your calories from fat rather than from protein and carbohydrates.
How It Works
When you eat less than 40 grams of carbs a day, your body will run out of the fuel (blood sugar) it can use quickly. This typically takes three to four days. Then you’ll start to break down your fat stores for energy, which can make you lose weight. This is called ketosis.
Who Uses It?
People use a ketogenic diet most often to lose weight, but it can help manage certain medical conditions, like epilepsy, too. It also may help people with heart disease, certain brain diseases, and even acne. Talk with your doctor first to find out if it is safe for you to try a ketogenic diet, especially if you have type 1 diabetes.
Prevent Cancer?
Insulin is a hormone that lets your body use or store sugar as fuel. Ketogenic diets make you burn through this fuel quickly, so you don’t need to store it. This means your body needs — and makes — less insulin. Those lower levels may help protect you against some kinds of cancer or even slow the growth of cancer cells.
Heart Disease
It seems strange that a diet that calls for more fat can raise “good” cholesterol and lower “bad” cholesterol, but ketogenic diets do just that. It may be because the lower levels of insulin that result from these diets can stop your body from making more cholesterol. That means you’re less likely to have high blood pressure, hardened arteries, heart failure, and other heart conditions.
Diabetes
Low-carb diets seem to help keep your blood sugar lower and more predictable than other diets. But when your body burns fat for energy, it makes compounds called ketones. If you have diabetes, particularly type 1, too many ketones in your blood can make you sick. So it’s very important to work with your doctor on any changes in your diet.
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
This is when a woman’s ovaries get larger than they should be, and small fluid-filled sacs form around the eggs. High levels of insulin can cause it. Ketogenic diets, which lower both the amount of insulin you make and the amount you need, may help treat it, along with other lifestyle changes, like exercise and weight loss.
Side Effects
The more common ones aren’t usually serious: You might have constipation, mild low blood sugar, or indigestion. Much less often, low-carb diets can lead to kidney stones or high levels of acid in your body (acidosis). Other side effects at the beginning of the diet can include the “keto flu,” which may include headache, weakness, and irritability; bad breath; and fatigue.
Exercise
A ketogenic diet may help endurance athletes — runners and cyclists, for example — when they train. Over time, it helps your muscle-to-fat ratio and raises the amount of oxygen your body can use when it’s working hard.
The U.S. Military is recommending a ketogenic diet to facilitate weight loss while enhancing physical performance. Do we need to say anything else?
